Ole Brook senior signs with Mississippi State

Brookhaven High senior running back Xavier Gayten had three long first half touchdown runs to power the Panthers past Vancleave by a 55-7 final score in the first round of the MHSAA 5A playoffs.

BROOKHAVEN — Xavier Gayten is headed to Starkville where the cowbells toll. The Brookhaven High School senior signed with Mississippi State University Wednesday morning.

Gayten was a force to be reckoned with and carried Brookhaven into the playoffs this year. His speed and power required a significant defensive effort to slow him down opening up chances for other Panthers to shine this year.

Gayten committed to Mississippi State prior to the 2023 season. He signs with the Bulldogs under new head coach Jeff Lebby.
