BROOKHAVEN — Arrow Disposal Services Incorporated, who picks up trash in Brookhaven and Lincoln County, addressed concerns about solid waste pickup in the county Monday morning. Charles Lungrin, ADSI area manager, appeared before the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors to answer any questions they had in a regularly scheduled meeting. 

District 4 Supervisor Eddie Brown told Lungrin he had no problems with their services in his district. 

“If people call in when they are supposed to instead of waiting three weeks, y’all take care of it,” Brown said. 

District 5 Supervisor Doug Falvey said he had some complaints from people claiming they called the number on the side of the cans but couldn’t get anyone to answer. Lungrin said ADSI had been updating their call system so that might have been the issue. 

Lincoln County Tax Assessor and Collector Blake Pickering said there were a few problem areas he knew of in the county regarding trash not being picked up. One of the problem areas is Fox Road between US51 and Willow Lane and the other is Russell Lane between Zetus Road and Palmetto Trail. 

Pickering fields calls with complaints which range from some people’s trash not being picked up and the driver having to work the route by themselves. Lungrin explained some of their issues have been due to new drivers learning their routes and the constant training of new hires. 

“We go through workers. You train one and then they are gone,” he said. 

District 1 Supervisor Jerry Wilson said  “no one wants to work anymore,” and District 3 Supervisor Nolan Williamson said “I hired a new hand last week and he didn’t even show up to work.” 

ADSI has run trucks on Saturdays to help pick up trash if a truck breaks down or if they are running behind. Brown thanked them for working to address concerns. 

“Y’all are still doing good,” he said. “You can’t please all 35,000 residents.”
