Local schools pass health department inspections

BROOKHAVEN — Five schools were listed in the most recent restaurant inspections conducted in Lincoln County this past week. Bogue Chitto, Enterprise, Brookhaven Elementary, Mamie Martin and Brookhaven High all passed their inspections.
According to the Mississippi Department of Health, the five schools received A’s. Bogue Chitto has received 16 straight As since 2016 according to health department reports. Zero violations were found in the visit to the Bobcat’s cafeteria.
Enterprise has received 15 straight As since 2016. There were 0 violations recorded in the visit on March 21. Brookhaven Elementary is also on its 15th straight A rating since 2016. A visit on March 22 found 0 violations.
Brookhaven High School’s cafeteria has received 15 straight A’s since 2013. MDOH’s visit on March 22 found 0 violations. Mamie Martin has received 15 straight A’s since 2013 and had 0 violations in its March 22 visit.
Department inspectors visited Poppa’s Fish House, listed as a full service restaurant located at 204 US51 North, and gave them an A rating on March 21. Zero violations were reported. They have received an A rating 18 straight times since 2012.
K&B Seafood, located at 307 US 51N and classified as a seafood market, received an A rating. It is the eighth straight A they have gotten since 2016 according to MDOH records.
Dairy Queen, located at 1003 Brookway Boulevard, received an A in a visit conducted on March 23. It is their fifth straight A they have received since September 2019. Prior to September 2019, they had two C grades and a B grade.
Friends Kitchen, located at 505 West Monticello Street and classified as a full service restaurant, received a B on March 21. The violation reported was an improper reheating procedure for hot holding. MDOH reports the violation was corrected on site.
