The Wesson Garden Club presented its annual “Magnolia Award” at its Feb. 16 meeting. David and Cindy Higgs were the recipients of the honor, presented by the Yard of the Month Committee, composed of Marilyn Britt, Sonya Cowen and Joy Phillips.

The most prestigious award given by the Wesson Garden Club, the Magnolia Award is designed to recognize and honor the home gardener with the most outstanding landscaped yard for the year, and their love of gardening.

The Higgs are recognized for their outstanding hard work of constantly maintaining a well-groomed landscape year-round, including season flowers, native trees and plants, accents and shrubs. The key criteria for the award includes consistently maintaining a manicured yard, curb appeal, originality, use of native and seasonal plant material, and creativity. The recipient must have previously received Yard of the Month within the current club year.

The Wesson Garden Club is a member of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., National Garden Clubs Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., and Natchez Trace District-Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc.
