BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service office in Jackson warns Lincoln County residents of strong winds tonight. These sustained winds could hit speeds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 to 40 mph. Strong winds could break weak trees and tree limbs causing them to fall and are a threat to high profile vehicles late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.
NWS Jackson forecasts severe weather to hit Lincoln County Thursday. Brookhaven is under a marginal risk for isolated severe storms, damaging wind gusts and hail up to a quarter in size. Tornadoes can not be ruled out as the conditions could produce one.
The threat is from 6a.m. to 1p.m. Thursday. Wednesday afternoon is forecast to have patches of drizzling rain, a high of 73 and a low of 60.
