A Brookhaven resident is among the top five winners in the Mississippi Lottery Powerball First Millionaire of the Year promotion.

One Mississippi Lottery Insider was randomly selected Monday to win an expenses-paid trip to New York City and a chance to become the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year.

The promotion ran Sept. 1-30 and featured a grand prize of an expenses-paid trip to NYC for two, three nights at a Times Square hotel, a welcome dinner, exclusive entertainment, New Year’s Eve dinner and entertainment, $1,000 cash, two gift bags, and transportation in NYC, plus eligibility for the $1 million drawing during the live broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”

The lottery also randomly selected four other winners to each receive a cash prize of $10,000, $5,000, $2,500 or $1,000. Those winners were from Laurel, McComb, Brookhaven and Brandon.

Anyone who signed up early had the chance to win in three early bird drawings. Three Mississippians from Sardis, Centreville and Blue Mountain each won $1,000.
