Graveside services for Mr. Bill J. Smith will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS, at 10:30 AM. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 94, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his home. He was born on July 18, 1928, in Lincoln County, MS, to Oscar Smith and Cammie L. Dickey Smith. Bill was the last of eight siblings. He was a graduate of Colin High School and Colin Junior College. He received his B.S. degree from Mississippi State. He was retired from Pennwalt Corp and Henkel Corp where he worked in the chemical industry for 36 years in various capacities. His hobbies were in tree farming and playing golf. In fact, he loved most outside activities. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for several years in Brookhaven, MS. Bill was also an active member of Brookhaven Exchange Club and he was in charge of the Carousel for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army.
Preceding him in death were his parents Oscar and Cammie Smith; his first wife Evelyn Wilson Smith; his second wife Georgia Smith Smith; daughter Monica Smith Guiffreda Reeves; 4 brothers Marley Smith, Lt. Col. C.C. Smith, Brant Smith and Hewitt Smith; and 3 sisters Nora Smith, Lavada Smith and Mary Cleo Gunnell.
Survivors are his son Brian; grandchildren Matthew Guiffreda (Lacey), Trace Smith and Lacey Smith; great-grandchildren Kolbey Guiffreda and Laken Guiffreda; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers Vickey Norton and Marilyn Beeson, Hospice Ministries Staff and also to his beloved grandson Matthew Guiffreda.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations be made in Mr. Bill Smith’s name to Brookhaven Exchange Club.
