As of July 12, 1,805 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported to the State Department of Health.

Mississippi has recorded 852,423 cases of the virus — 464,682 confirmed — and 12,560 related deaths — 8,270 confirmed. Probable cases are those who test positive by other testing methods such as antibody or antigen and have recent symptoms consistent with the virus. Probable deaths are those with a designation of COVID-19 as a cause of death on the death certificate, but no confirmatory testing was performed.

Lincoln County currently has a medium level of community transmission. Anyone with symptoms should get tested. Those with a high risk for severe illness should consider wearing a mask and taking other precautions. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with the virus should wear a mask.

As of Sunday, July 10, Lincoln County has reported 8,854 positive cases of the coronavirus and 158 deaths. Eighty-three new cases have been reported within the past week. No new deaths have been reported in the county since the week of May 22.

While the majority of Lincoln’s neighboring counties are also at a medium transmission level, Amite, Pike and Walthall counties are considered at a high transmission level.

Long-term care facilities are still experiencing outbreaks — 188 as of July 12. LTC facilities include nursing homes, personal care homes, assisted living homes and intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disability. Outbreak figures are directly reported to MSDH by the facility.

In Lincoln County, five facilities have reported active outbreaks. Since the onset of the pandemic, 252 cases and 47 total deaths have been reported in Lincoln County LTC facilities.
