On April 18, the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors approved bids from Rowell Roofing of Columbia for $233,000 worth of repair work for county buildings.

Rowell Roofing bid $162,000 to repair the Mechanical Room roof and $71,000 for the Emergency Management building’s roof.

Supervisors also approved a utility permit for CSpire in LinBrook Industrial Park and authorized County Engineer Ryan Holmes to advertise projects funded through the American Rescue Plan Project, pending approval from the county’s adviser, Butler Snow.

County Administrator Daniel Calcote reported on the county’s financial report thus far. “We are 50 percent the way through our fiscal year,” he said. “And we have received 74 percent of our budgeted receipts.”

Calcote reported that total expenditures are 59.2 percent of the budgeted amounts through March. He said the amount is a “little high, but mainly due to the one-time expenditures such as appropriations and debt services payments paid at the beginning of the year.”

Departments more than 50 percent of their annual budgeted expenditures as of March are as follows:

• Board of Supervisors – 64.7 percent of annual budgeted expenditures (due to appropriations and debt payments)
• Tax collector – 61.2 percent (due to high personnel costs in February and March and overtime and bonus to collector in two high-volume months)
• Elections – 137.1 percent (due to $223,600 spent on voting machines last October)
• Civic Center – 60.9 percent (due to many expenses in March in preparation of baseball season)
• Volunteer Fire – 89.2 percent (due to payout of annual grant funds)
• District 2 Road Maintenance – 60.5 percent (due to emergency bridge repairs, $112,000payment to S&S Dragline in December
• District 3 Road Maintenance – 88.1 percent (due to Decemberpayment of several invoices to Dickerson & Bowen totaling $222,156; $263,289.13 payment to T.L. Wallace; and expense for Hurricane Ida cleanup)
• District 4 Road Maintenance – 66 percent (due to $121,870payment to Hunt Southland in December
• District 1 Bridge – 73.4 percent
