Lindsey Norton has been chosen as Lincoln County’s new 2022 Miss Hospitality.

“From what I can tell from Lindsey in the few days I’ve known her, she is going to represent Brookhaven and Lincoln County well during her reign,” said Katie Nations, Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce program director and local Miss Hospitality director.

Lindsey Leigh Norton is the daughter of Shane and Leigh Ann Norton and a graduate of Brookhaven Academy. She is a pre-bachelor of science of nursing major at Copiah Lincoln Community College with a 4.0 GPA.

Her high school honors include Mississippi Scholar, Highest Honor Graduate, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Cheer leadership award and All Star soccer.

Her college honors include Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Theta Kappa, President’s List, Arlee Walker Pre-Professional Science Scholarship, ACT scholarship, Co-Lin Beauty freshman and sophomore and cheerleader for the Co-Lin Wolfpack.

In her community, she is in the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club, is a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, serves as a Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Jr. Ambassador and has more than 150 community service hours accumulated during high school.

Her hobbies include cheerleading, painting, being with family and friends and playing with her adopted puppy from BARL.

“I plan to be a nurse practitioner who specializes in pediatric medicine in my hometown of Brookhaven,” Norton said of her future plans.

The Mississippi Miss Hospitality competition began in 1949 under Gov. Fielding Wright and the Mississippi Legislature to “champion the state’s tourism and economic development sectors while supporting Mississippi’s best and brightest young women through a robust scholarship program,” the program’s website reported.

The competition for women aged 18 to 24 celebrates beauty, grace, intelligence and sincere qualities of a modern woman. Local contestants serve a year promoting their communities.

“I always look forward to this time of year and meeting our newly crowned Miss Hospitality,” said Nations. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for a local young lady to get to know her community and state better.”

The state’s Miss Hospitality serves as “the official goodwill ambassador for Mississippi, traveling regionally and nationally to promote the Hospitality State and share her story. She also enjoys her part of more than $100,000 in prizes and scholarships offered by [the] program,” the website noted.
