To any daddy out there

I’ve written and talked about my earthly daddy so many times, and I could do so any day. He’s been a fantastic example to me, my siblings, our children and anyone else who ever paid attention.
Is he perfect? No, but he was never meant to be.
Even when I didn’t follow his example, I have learned so much about what it means to be a good dad by watching him.
So when someone shared a poem with me last week because they found it encouraging, I thought it would be good to share it here. It’s a cautious reminder “To Any Daddy” (author unknown).
There are little eyes upon you, and they’re watching night and day;
There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say;
There are little hands all eager to do anything you do; And a little boy who’s dreaming of the day he’ll be like you.
You’re the little fellow’s idol, you’re the wisest of the wise; In his little mind about you, no suspicions ever rise.
He believes in you devoutly, holds that all you say and do
he will say and do in your way when he’s grown up like you.
There’s a wide-eyed little fellow who believes you’re always right;
And his ears are always open, and he watches day and night. You are setting an example every day, in all you do,
for the little boy who’s waiting to grow up to be like you.
Be challenged, dads, be also be encouraged. And to my dad, I love you, happy Fathers Day, and when I grow up I want to be just like you.
