MHP reports multiple accidents statewide

Multiple accidents were being reported statewide Sundayevening, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Unnecessary travel is not recommended.
For those who must travel for an emergency, MHP advises the following:
Never use cruise control during inclement weather or on unsafe roads.
Minimize steering, accelerating and braking on slick roadways, and expect bridges and elevated roadways to be slick.
Troopers suggest having a full tank of gas, a fully-charged cell phone, a flashlight, warm clothes and blankets, as well as driver’s license and insurance information.
Delays in response times are to be expected.
