King’s Daughters Medical Center continues to roll out vaccines and has scheduled its first day to administer second doses.

According to KDMC CEO Alvin Hoover, the hospital has administered 2,300 vaccines to date. The hospital has a clinic set up for Saturday to administer 300 first doses and 300 second doses. The phone lines for the 300 doses opened earlier today.

“The hotline was open at 10 a.m. and we’re finished scheduling those 300 appointments,” Hoover said.

Once the phone lines opened, all of the doses had been claimed in less than an hour.

To date, the hospital has received 2,185 first doses and 900 second doses.

As for the hospital, things have slacked up a bit. Hoover said the hospital currently has 15 COVID-19 positive patients.

“There are nine patients in the intensive care unit,” Hoover said. “And one of those patients is downstairs in the emergency room because the unit is full.”

Hoover said the system of care alert the hospital has been participating in ends Friday.

“We’re really hoping we’ve seen the end of the surge and that we’re leveled out or decreasing a little bit,” Hoover said.

Hoover said the numbers at the hospital have been improving.

“Our numbers have been better over the last couple of weeks,” Hoover said.

Today there were 3,238 total coronavirus cases in Lincoln with 94 deaths, 173 total long-term care facility outbreaks and 37 total LTC deaths, according to the Mississippi Department of Health.
