The rate of coronavirus cases is going up while temperatures are going down.

On Monday, the Mississippi Department of Health released their latest COVID-19 statistics.

In Lincoln County, there were 1,528 cases total, an increase of 12 cases since last reported Friday. There was one new death over the weekend, bringing the total to 63.

The county has had 162 long-term care facility outbreaks and 36 LTC deaths total. An outbreak is a single confirmed COVID-19 infection in an LTC facility resident, or more than one infection in employees or staff in a 14-day period.

Across the state there were 516 new cases and no new deaths. There were 105 current LTC outbreaks.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 127,205 COVID-19 cases and 3,443 deaths. MSDH presumes 111,430 of those cases have recovered.

Hospitalizations have risen over the weekend, with 619 patients being treated for the coronavirus in hospitals across the state. Out of that total, 177 are in intensive care and 74 are on ventilators.

More than a million tests have been conducted for the coronavirus in Mississippi since the start of the pandemic, with the total standing at 1,152,661. Out of that total, 982,396 have been for positive detection of the virus, 47,023 have been for antibodies and 123,242 have been for antigens.

Testing is available in Brookhaven at King’s Daughters Medical Center. The COVID screening site is located behind the Emergency Room and will be open to the public 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 601-835-9455 to make an appointment.
