Mr. Smith, 56, of Wesson, MS, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at home. He was born on March 1, 1964, in Brookhaven, MS, to Troy and Mary Ellen Smith. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church; worked for many years as a computer scientist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA where he provided innovative analysis techniques that led the way toward today’s standard methods of analysis for the US Navy. David was also a world ranked professional pool player who developed the patented Rack-M-Rite. His first love, however, was playing lead guitar. After teaching himself to play from internet lessons while in high school, he became very proficient, eventually working with his brother and initially with his close friend Ralf to do several original compositions. He was a gentle soul who advocated for focusing on our country’s youth to engage them rather than treat them with drugs to calm and focus them and to treat diabetics and cancer patients naturally with healthy food and lifestyle. His happiest times were spent with close friends and his awesome stepdaughter, Maggie. David was much loved by both family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother Tommy Smith. Survivors are his stepdaughter, Maggie Murgia; siblings, Patricia (Trisha) Smith Hamburger, John Smith and Melvin Smith, and a host of family and friends.
