The Brookhaven High Panthers (0-3) will look to knock area rival McComb (3-0) from the ranks of the unbeaten Friday night on King Field.
The Tigers, coached by Willie Brown, have beaten Jim Hill, Hazlehurst and Tylertown in getting off to their perfect start.
BHS will need to contain McComb junior quarterback Chris Roberson. The 6-foot, 175-pound Roberson is 16-of-33 throwing the ball this season for 271 yards and four scores. On the ground he’s rushed for 149 yards on 36 carries and scored another four touchdowns.
Senior running back Ja’qaveon Anderson has also run for a team high 254 yards for the Tigers.
Junior Dontrae Smith is leading the Panther defense with 18 stops this season. Junior Quintaye Bates is second with 17 tackles and sophomore Marvis McDaniel is third with 10 stops this season.
Junior Trace Brady is 3-of-4 on point after kicks this season and made a 28-yard field goal last week in a 42-10 loss to Petal.
Last season BHS beat McComb 33-3 in Pike County. The Tigers last beat Brookhaven in 2015 as the Panthers have won eight of the last 10 games in the series that dates back to 1920.
Kickoff on King Field is set for 7 p.m.
