Funeral services for James Dudley Keene, of Brookhaven, are today, Oct. 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven. Bro. Greg Warnock and Bro. Steve Wooten will officiate the services.
Visitation was held Monday Oct. 8, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Keene, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson with his loving family by his side. He was born Dec. 21, 1935, to Willie Eugene Keene and Nonee Rushing Keene. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. He was retired as a directional driller primarily with Eastman Whipstock. He served his country in the US Army in Korea. He enjoyed John Deere tractor restoration and gardening and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Larry Keene.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Sylvia Huff Keene; son, Marcus Dudley Keene; daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Proctor and husband, Cam; granddaughters, Laura Proctor, Mary Alice Proctor and Sylvia Proctor; brother, Donald Keene and wife, Hannah, and Martin Keene and wife, Debbie; sister Diane Harris; and a host of family and friends.
