Wesson fell to Tylertown Friday night with a final score of 36-20 to bring their record to 4-6 and 0-4 for the district.

The Cobras hosted the Tylertown Chiefs (5-4, 2-1) in a battle that Wesson hoped would put them in the win column for the district. Forcing an early fumble from the Chiefs, the Cobras started out better than they had in a while.

But Tylertown didn’t let them get anywhere, and before long the Chiefs were in the endzone with a 4-yard rushing touchdown. The first quarter ended with the Cobras behind 0-6.

Into the second, Tylertown tacked on another TD and a 2-point conversion to make the score 14-0. But Wesson junior wide receiver Victavian Edwards put a 5-yard run into the endzone and the Cobras added a point after to narrow the score to 14-7. By the half, Tylertown was up 21-7.

Edwards carried the ball again for a short 1-yard touchdown late in the third to make the score 21-14. Tylertown raised the stakes by another TD before Edwards punched in another, making it a 28-20 game.

That was as far as Wesson could take the digits. The Chiefs put another TD and a 2-point conversion on the board late in the fourth to end the game 36-20.

The Cobras will face Jefferson Davis County on the road next week for their last regular season game.
