Brookhaven Academy wrecks Benton’s homecoming celebration with 37-8 win

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars brought their rushing attack to Benton Friday night and wrecked the Raiders homecoming.
The Cougar defense took the field first and stopped the Raiders on a 4th and goal, ending a long drive from Benton to open the game.
On the Cougars’ first two offensive possessions, Tanner Waldrop scored two touchdowns, including a 64-yard run to give BA a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.
In the second, the Cougars ran a trick play. Senior quarterback Dawson Flowers threw a touchdown pass to offensive tackle Ben Powell to get a 20-8 lead.
On Brookhaven’s opening drive of the second half, Flowers threw a slant pass to Cade Brown for a Cougar touchdown to increase the lead to 27-8.
Logan Murray tacked on six more points for the Cougars with a 16-yard run. Corey Case added an extra point and BA led 34-8 early in the fourth quarter.
Case connected on a 22-yard field goal to extend the lead 37-8.
The Cougars finished the night with 274 rushing yards. Tanner Waldrop had 154 yards on the ground, including two touchdowns.
Logan Murray had 100 yards rushing on the night and one touchdown.
Flowers had 136 passing yards with two touchdowns, one to Cade Brown and one to Ben Powell.
Brookhaven Academy improves their record to 6-2. They will play Union Christian Academy at home next Friday night.
