Lady Cougars drop two games Saturday

Heading into the last week of the regular season, the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars went 0-2 on Saturday as they dropped games to Jackson Prep and Silliman Institute.
With the two losses, Brookhaven Academy dropped to 12-13-2 on the season heading into the two final games of the regular season.
Brookhaven Academy is home against Sylva Bay Academy tonight night before the South State tournament this weekend.
BA 0, Jackson Prep 12
A nine-run third inning for Jackson Prep put the game away as the Lady Cougars dropped their first game Saturday by a score of 12-0.
Jackson Prep got on the board in the top of the first inning with an RBI double to center field to give them the early 1-0 lead over Brookhaven Academy.
Four home runs in the top of the third inning helped propel the Jackson Prep offense to a big inning. Errors cost the Lady Cougars throughout the game and two errors in the inning helped score two more runs for Jackson Prep.
Jackson Prep capped off a big inning with an RBI double to complete a nine-run inning as Brookhaven Academy trailed 10-0 after the third inning.
An RBI single for Jackson Prep and another error by the Brookhaven Academy defense helped score two runs to make the deficit 12-0.
The Lady Cougars were shut out in the game and Jackson Prep came away with the easy victory.
Five errors cost the Brookhaven Academy defense and gave runs to Jackson Prep throughout the game.
Madi Smith got the start for Brookhaven Academy, pitching 2.1 innings and giving up six earned runs on seven hits, no walks and no strikeouts.
Emily Claire Felder came on in relief and pitched 1.2 innings, giving up six runs (none earned) on four hits, one walk and one strikeout.
BA 0, Silliman 4
The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars were shut out for the second game in a row and fell to Silliman Institute by a score of 4-0.
Silliman got on the board in the top of the first inning with an RBI groundout to give them the early 1-0 lead.
Defensive errors in the top of the third and fourth innings by Brookhaven Academy resulted in three runs and gave Silliman the 4-0 victory.
Smith got the start for the Lady Cougars and pitched three innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
Felder pitched in relief and pitched the last inning, giving up one earned run on one hit and one walk.
Jordan, Smith and Felder each had one hit to lead the Lady Cougars in game two of the day.
