A New Orleans man died just after midnight today in a one-vehicle crash on I-55 two miles south of Lincoln County.
Lionel A. Mack, 33, of 1483 North Galvez St., was driving a 2010 Jeep Liberty southbound on I-55 at mile marker 22 in Pike County, said Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The vehicle left the road on the right and the driver overcorrected, which sent the vehicle across both southbound lanes, he said.
The Jeep left the road on the far left and crashed into an embankment and overturned. Mack was ejected and the Jeep came to a final rest on top of the driver, he said.
Lance C. Terry, 33, of 70 West Bank Expressway, Gretna, was sent to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, Fortenberry said.
The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
