Vendor spots are filling up quickly for the annual Lincoln County Wildlife and Outdoor Expo.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 8 and 9 at the Lincoln Civic Center.

“We’re almost out of vendor spots inside the building,” said Facilities Manager Quinn Jordan.

While there’s no deadline to apply, Jordan encourages vendors to get registered now while some of the prime spots are still available inside and outside the civic center.

”Vendors are more than welcome to sign up until the night before the event,” he said.

Vendor spaces are 10-feet-by-10-feet for $150 and 10-feet-by-20-feet spaces for $250.

The booths this year will be similar to those who filled the civic center and grounds last year. While all will have an outdoor theme, they’ll run the gamut from entertainment to education.

Jordan said there will be a wide variety of vendors available for the public to meet and booths to shop at or get information.

“We have some game call companies coming and showing off their new hunting calls. We’ve got handmade wood art and handmade furniture. We have outdoor-themed T-shirt vendors. The list goes on and on,” Jordan said.

Local taxidermists and auto and four-wheeler dealerships will be there showing off their products, and representatives of the Mississippi Wildlife Fisheries and Parks will be available to answer questions for hunters and fishermen. Hunting licenses will be available for purchase.

Preston Pittman, who is well-known for making his own turkey calls, plans to attend. Jordan said he’ll have a booth at the expo but will also be available for photographs and autographs.

“We’re going to have yard art, campers and boats there,” Jordan said. “We’re going to have great food. This is going to be a great time for people to enjoy time with their families.”

This is the ninth year of the event. Jordan said the event actually started prior to Hurricane Katrina, but it was put on hold for several years after the storm.

“We picked it back up in 2008 and it has just gotten bigger every year. We’re dialed into what the people want. This is the nicest family-oriented show that I know of in the area,” Jordan said.

Kids will have an opportunity to learn how to shoot a bow, hand grab fish and chase a pig, he said.

Jordan is also selling tickets and sponsorships for a fundraiser banquet to be held Sept. 7 at the Brookhaven Building. They are also collecting items for a silent auction. For more information contact Bruce Gray at 601-754-5592.
