Volunteers with the Exchange Club Fair are hoping for another good weekend.
“We had a good turnout all three nights of the opening weekend,” said Exchange Club President Jeremy Brown. “We had a little bit of bad weather Saturday night, but still had a good crowd. We hope to have an even better crowd this coming weekend.”
The fair will be open again Thursday through Saturday. There is no backup plan if rain forces them to close early.
“If we would have gotten rained out any during the opening weekend, we would have opened up earlier this week. But since we made it through the weekend, we’re good to go for our regular Thursday through Saturday schedule,” Brown said.
Gates open at 6 p.m. each night and rides close around 10 p.m.
If the rain holds off, Lincoln County could be in for some good fair weather. The National Weather Service in Jackson forecasts highs in the upper 80s Thursday through Saturday and lows in the low 70s.
Meteorologist Shannon Hefferan said the chance for rain is about 30 percent each day.
“Some afternoon showers are possible coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, but it shouldn’t be anything serious,” she said.
Organizers are planning the big fireworks finale when the rides close Saturday night.
“You will be able to see them anywhere in the park,” Brown said. “We will light the fireworks on the baseball field when entering the park. I think it’s going to a be a great finale for the fair.”
