Funeral services for Theresa W. Callaway, formally of Cantonment, Florida, are Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven.

Mrs. Callaway, 87, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Wesson surrounded by her family. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, Feb. 14, 1930. Her loving parents were Edward Hammond and Elizabeth “Bessie” Hammond. She married the love of her life Sept. 6, 1947, and they had two daughters. Her husband Arthur transferred to Monticello with St. Regis Paper Co. in 1967. After settling in Monticello, she opened a ceramic shop at their home. She shared her love of ceramics with other ladies that would come to her shop and was affectionately known as a perfectionist. She learned to play bridge with other “paper mill wives” while the husbands were working 12 hour shifts. After Arthur retired from St. Regis, they moved back to Florida and built their home in Cantonment. They spent their retirement years traveling and enjoying their time together. Although marrying at the age of 17 and 18, their love never faltered and only grew stronger throughout the years. She was very talented. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and drawing with pastels. She shared her many talents with her daughters. In her later years, she was happiest spending time with her girls while they each did needlework.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Callaway Jr.; her parents; brothers, Glyn Hammond, Adrian Hammond, James R. Willis, Jr.; and sisters, Vera H. Cosby and Gladys H. Mathis.

Survivors are her two daughters, Donna C. Smith and husband Roger, Regina C. Cavin and husband Vernon; four grandchildren, Angela Fick, Karla Wallace and husband Bubby, Heath Grubbs and wife Sharon, and Jeremy Grubbs; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Cavin, Heath Grubbs, Howard “Bubby” Wallace Jr., Nathaniel Fauver, Nicholas Fauver and Zachary Phillips.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mrs. Callaway’s Nurse Kathy Crosby and her CNA Carolina Richardson, both of Hospice Ministries.
