John B. Jeanson

A Mass for John B. Jeanson, of Green Creek, North Carolina, will be Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 9 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Tryon, North Carolina. Father Roger Arnsparger will officiate the service. McFarland Funeral Chapel Tryon, North Carolina, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday, June 23, 2017, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary will be said immediately following visitation.

Mr. Jeanson, 89, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He was the son of the late Nicholas J. Jeanson and Huberta Messelaar Jeanson. He served in the Dutch Royal Navy and came to America in 1961 after emigrating to Canada in 1955. He was a clothing designer for many companies and ended his career by designing the children’s line for Osh Gosh BGosh. In 1992, he moved to Green Creek, North Carolina. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Tryon, North Carolina, and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Noel.

Survivors are is his wife of 59 years, Jean Lavington Jeanson; four sons, Hans Jeanson, of Olive Branch, Frank Jeanson (Lisa), of Mars, Pennsylvania, Michael Jeanson (Sandy), of McComb, and Thomas Jeanson (Kristin), of Wilmington, Delaware; two daughters, Sharon Shelton (Brian), of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Judy Burns (Tim), of Las Vegas, Nevada; four sisters, Nettie Bezooyes, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Betty Jeanson, of Utrecht, Holland, Lidy Jeanson and Marianne Jeanson, both of Amsterdam, Holland; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
