Flags on state property will fly at half-staff Thursday in memory of eight victims of the tragedy in Lincoln County.

Gov. Phil Bryant signed an executive order today to authorize that action.

He said in the order, “Deputy (William) Durr was killed in the line of duty responding to a reported domestic disturbance which ultimately claimed the lives of Barbara Mitchell, Brenda May, Toccara May, Ferral Burage, Sheila Burage, Austin Edwards and Jordan Blackwell.”

Bryant ordered all state and U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff on all public buildings and grounds in Lincoln County from sunrise to sunset “in memory of this senseless shooting rampage,” he said.
