The West Lincoln track and field team participated in the 2A region four track meet Friday afternoon at Tylertown High School.

West Lincoln had three runners place in the top three in their respective competitions in the overall meet.

The top runner was Jonathan Mathis, who finished first in the 3200 meter race in a time of 11 minutes and 35 seconds. Tiler Castillo finished second in the 3200 meter race with a time of 11 minutes and 37 seconds.

Mathis continued his stellar day by finishing third in the 1600 meter race with a time of five minutes and 17 seconds. With their results, both Mathis and Castillo will run again in the south state meet this Saturday at St. Andrews.

In the 4 x 800 meter relay, the team of Ashtin Castillo, Chase Spring, Justin Pratt and Chris Freeman finished fifth with a time of 10 minutes and six seconds. It was the first time this group participated in the relay competition.
