A group of Wesson Lions are on the prowl around Lincoln County tyring to get the word out about their upcoming pancake breakfast.

Among those selling tickets to the April 8 event is 85-year-old Doc Entrican. And with good reason. He’s the chairman of the pancake breakfast.

For $5 a plate, customers can opt for either carry-out or dine in at the fellowship hall of Wesson Baptist Church.

Pancake plates will be available from 6-10 a.m.

“We haven’t raised the price since we started,” Entrican said. “Most of the time you usually have to raise it, but we decided not to.”

Entrican brought the idea to the Wesson Lions Club chapter in 2002 when he moved to the area.

“I did it when I was working in Senatobia,” Entrican said. “The pancake breakfast is a time that the Lions Club can get exposed to the community and we get exposed to the people.”

Entrican said all the funds go to the their community programs like scholarships, kids activities and Boys and Girls Scouts.

“We give a few high school kids scholarships who want to attend Copiah-Lincoln Community College,” Entrican said. “We also support the Mississippi Lions All State Band.”

The chairman said they also set money aside to help the Mississippi Lions state and international programs. 

Entrican is proud to be a part of the one of the largest service organizations in the world. He has been a Lions Club member for over 30 years.

“We have a great time. People sit around, eat and talk. We usually have a full dining room area,” Entrican said. “It’s a good time to be with them.”
