A high-pursuit chase Friday night that started in Lincoln County and included officers from seven law enforcement agencies ended unsuccessfully, authorities said.
Troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol clocked a white Nissan passenger car traveling 84 mph in a 70-mhp zone on I-55 around the 24 mile marker just north of Pike County, said MHP Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry.
“The subject speeded up to 120 mph in a attempt to elude the trooper,” he said.
The Nissan traveled north on the interstate to the North Brookhaven exit at mile marker 42. The driver exited and went to Hwy. 51 and headed north.
“The driver of the car ran through several red lights traveling northbound on US 51,” he said.
The driver fled through Wesson to Hazlehurst, where the pursuit was cancelled.
Fortenberry said officers with Mississippi Wildlife, Fish and Game, Brookhaven Police, Wesson Police, Hazlehurst Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Copiah County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
