Just so we are clear, there’s no error in the above headline.

The Brookhaven Panthers slow-pitch softball team scored nearly 40 runs in its double-header against Forest Hill Tuesday. And they only needed about four innings to do it.

The Panthers won the first game 15-1 over the Patriots in two innings and took the second contest 20-0.

“Our girls hit the ball really well tonight,” Panthers head coach Mandy Vinson said. “We need our hitting to continue to get better each day.”

The Panthers hit four home runs over the two-game span, three of which were inside-the-park home runs.

Senior Jada Henderson was responsible for the true homer, sending one over the fence during the second game of the day. Henderson also hit a single in the game.

Macy Ziskin, Kat Wallace and Kyla Henderson all hit inside-the-park home runs.

Ziskin had a great night at the plate for the Panthers, as the senior shortshop finished the day with two singles, two doubles and the homer. Wallace hit double Henderson added a single to go with her home run.

Senior pitcher Cheyenne Motley had two doubles and two singles for Ole Brook. Madison Thompson had a triple and Meg Foster and Rileigh Allen each had a double.

Franklin County beats

West Lincoln 11-1 

The Franklin County Lady Dawgs jumped out to an early lead on the West Lincoln Lady Bears and captured an 11-1 victory Tuesday.

In the second inning the Lady Dawgs led 3-0, but the Lady Bears got one of those runs back at the top of the third. Franklin County answered with three more runs in the same inning to retake the lead. The Lady Dawgs scored a total of six runs in the first three innings to give themselves a comfortable lead.

Still, they added five more insurance runs in the fourth inning to seal the deal, powered by Kaytlyn Smith’s three-run homer.

Sydney Scott, the winning pitcher, surrendered no walks in the game. The Lady Dawgs were led by Smith’s home run and four RBI’s offensively

Kellie Hunt, Timara Mackay, Malaine Moak, Tabitha Thompson and Emilee Wallace had two base hits each. Savannah Frith and Chasney Green each had a double and two RBI’s.

For West Lincoln, Sara Jane Doty Kelsey Freeman, Maddox Redd, Makennah Redd, Averi Paden, Micah Powell and Ashley Tabor all hit singles.
