Leo Lewis smiled, Farrod Green laughed and Mississippi State fans got to see a softer side of two of the area’s top recruits in the MSU 2015 Signing Class.

Both Green and Lewis took part in the Mississippi State Summer Extravaganza, along with Coach Dan Mullen, Thursday night in Jackson. Both players and coach Mullen signed autographs for fans for nearly two hours before being introduced to a crowd of nearly 2,500 at the Mississippi Coliseum.

“Man my hand feels like it’s going to fall off,” said Lewis, who smiled and took pictures with State fans both young and old.

Lewis, an Ole Brook All- American linebacker was redshirted last year despite being the No.1 Inside LB in the nation in 2015 when he arrived on campus.

“I’m ready for the season,” said Lewis, smiling. “I had a good spring and ready to build off that.” The 6-2, 235-pound Lewis enters the season as a potential starter at LB for the Bulldogs after showing flashes in the spring of being the playmaker he was at Ole Brook.

Highly touted and in the best shape of his career, Lewis picked the Bulldogs over Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, and Texas A&M in one of the most memorable recruiting battles in Lincoln County history.

Like Lewis, Farrod Green is also coming off a redshirt freshmen season. Green, an athletic tight end, had a solid spring camp in Starkville. Green, who is an All- State standout from Wesson, shook hands with Bulldog fans and signed posters and footballs Thursday night.

“It’s pretty cool seeing all the fans here,” said Green. “Really, really cool.” Another player with Lincoln County roots was also at the Extravaganza in Bassfield native Jamal Peters, whose grandfather works in Lincoln County.

Peters is already a fan favorite among many. He’s expected to be a two-way player for the Bulldogs this fall at safety and wide receiver as he enters his sophomore season.

“It’s going to be a fun year ahead,” said Peters. And for Mississippi State fans, Thursday night was just a preview of things to come from a young but talented group of Bulldogs.
