A Wesson man was killed in Copiah County Sunday morning following a head-on crash involving a semi-truck.

Gibson Britt, 23, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Copiah County coroner, said  Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M spokesman Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry.

Richard McCormick, 33, address unavailable, was traveling east on Hwy. 28 in a 1996 Peterbilt truck shortly after 6:30 a.m. Britt was traveling west in a Ford car. Britt’s vehicle crossed the center line, hitting the semi, Fortenberry said.

The car caught fire, he said.

McCormick was taken to Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital in Hazlehurst. where he was treated for minor injuries and released, Fortenberry said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
