An upcoming job fair on Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s campus may provide a number of opportunities for those seeking employment in various popular fields.

The Pathways Job Fair for 2016 will be held on March 30 at Co-Lin’s Wesson campus in the Billy B. Thames Conference Center. Those who attend will be able to meet employers, gather information and apply for jobs. The fair will be separated into two segments. Transportation, engineering and industrial pathways will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and computer and office professionals, service industries and healthcare pathways will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

Transportation, engineering and industrial pathways include positions in: automotive/diesel, drafting and design, heavy machinery, electronics, HVAC, commercial truck driving, automation and control, precision machining, welding and other related fields.

Computer and office professionals, service industries and healthcare pathways includes positions as or in: business office, banking and finance, computer networking, cosmetology, food service, child care, retail, certified nurses’ assistant, licensed practical nursing, registered nursing, radiology, medical lab tech and other related fields.

Celeste Williamson is a basic skills/media specialist in workforce education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, an organizer for the event. She said people should come prepared, and professional attire and resumes are encouraged.

“They need to be prepared to talk to representatives, and to be able to answer informal interview questions,” Williamson said. “We encourage them to dress for success, to be job-interview ready and also to be prepared with work history and resume information.”

Williamson urges people to also be prepared if someone asks that they fill out an application. Williamson said there is an area set aside for people to sit and fill out applications on site.

“We have and had many success stories in which the student have made contacts and have followed up with interviews,” Williamson said. “That’s not to say from someone off campus can’t have the same story, we just know about the students.”

The job fair is open to the public, and there is no fee to register.

Need help getting prepared? For those who want help building a resume or preparing for an interview, there is help at the library. The Lincoln County Public Library is a holding free resume building and interview skills workshop today from 9 to 11 a.m. and March 3 from 9 to 11 a.m.
