Women of faith will travel from several states to contribute to a women’s conference held by Rhema Word Worship Church this weekend. Friday through Sunday, believers will come together and focus on praise and the love that only God provides.

Darryl Hilliard and his wife, Pamela, are pastors of Rhema Word Worship Church at 1034 S. First Street NE. Pamela Hilliard said the conference is five months in the making and will kick off Friday at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., Pastor Miki King of Belleville, Illinois, will speak on the theme “Get your life back.”

Hilliard said the focus of the conference, “Love your life,” is born of the 16 elements of love laid out by God in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

“God had given me the vision that a lot of women and all people in the world today have been hurting from everything that’s going on,” Hilliard said. “We want to focus back in on God being the center of your life. And love, God is love, so the whole theme is that if you get God you will have love in your life and we will learn how to treat each other, you will learn how to love yourself.”

Saturday’s morning events will commence at 8 a.m. when King presents “Live your life,” a workshop for pastors’ wives and ministers’ wives only. It is followed by “Work your life” by King at 9:30 a.m., which is a women-only workshop. Lady Ella Warren from Quincy, Illinois, will be making a special appearance at the conference as will Apostle Nadine Wilson from Pascagoula.

Pastor Rhonda Pettigrew from Jackson, Tennessee, will follow prayer, praise and worship at 6 p.m. with “A life of worship” at 7 p.m. Pettigrew will also host the Sunday morning service at 9.

There is no registration, and the event is free to attend. Men and women alike are welcome to attend the nightly services Friday and Saturday as well as Sunday morning.

“What you see on TV and social media, those things are another bar against love. People are killing and stealing and are against each other right now,” Hilliard said. “Even in our communities, it’s traveling down to our families. And I think the church is going to be the one to help raise the spirit of love back up, the teaching that comes from the word of God.”
