Brookhaven visits Laurel

Brookhaven (1-6, 1-2), coached by Tommy Clopton, captured its first win of the season last Friday with a 21-14 homecoming victory over the Provine Rams at King Field.
This week, the Panthers are looking to continue that momentum as they travel to Laurel to battle the Golden Tornadoes.
The Tornadoes (4-3, 3-0), coached by Todd Breland, destroyed the Wingfield Falcons 53-14 last Friday in Jackson.
BHS’ top performer last week against Provine was senior running back Thomas Poole. He finished with 265 yards of total offense, including a 29-carry, 179-yard, two-touchdown worksheet and had a 77-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Defensively, Wesley Calcote led the Panthers with 10 tackles, an interception and a sack. Stephen Springfield contributed five tackles, had a forced fumble, a tackle for a loss, and a sack. Dedric Smith provided five tackles, had a fumble recovery and a tackle for a loss. Willie Bates finished with six tackles and had a forced fumble.
Last year, the Golden Tornadoes defeated the Panthers 27-15 in Laurel.
My prediction: Laurel wins 42-35.
