West Lincoln (2-4, 0-1), led by first-year head coach Charlie Jackson, visited Bassfield last week and were handed a 59-6 loss in the opening round of division action.
This week, the Bears continue their Region 7-2A road tour as they visit Liberty to take on the Amite County Trojans.
The Trojans (5-1, 1-0), coached by Sedric Cain, were victorious Friday with a 64-6 division win over the Loyd Star Hornets.
Senior quarterback Quavonte Adams had a big night for the Trojans as he completed 9-of-15 passes for 224 yards. Lantravious Franklin led the ground attack with 77 yards rushing on five carries. Darrion Robinson was the top receiver with five catches for 105 yards.
Defensively, senior linebackers Robert Mitchell and Alleon Thigpen led the Trojans with seven tackles each.
West Lincoln’s top offensive performer against Bassfield was Jayden Rushing. He completed 13-of-30 passes for 142 yards and one touchdown. Chase Owen was the top receiver for West Lincoln – he caught a 12-yard pass for a touchdown and finished with 111 yards receiving.
Defensively, Julian Anderson and Liam Rutland led the Bears with five tackles each.
Last year, Amite County blanked West Lincoln 52-0 at Perry Miller Field.
My prediction: The Trojans will cruise past West Lincoln 56-8.
