Brookhaven Academy (0-6, 0-3), under the direction of second-year coach Blake Purvis, lost a tough 40-0 decision to the Columbia Wildcats on homecoming last week at R.M. “Red” Stuard Field.
This week, the Cougars will visit McComb to participate in Parklane Academy’s homecoming.
The Pioneers (2-4), led by first-year coach Brian Stutzman, snapped a three-game losing streak last week after beating the University Academy Lions 49-14.
BA’s top offensive performer last week against Columbia Academy was junior quarterback Madison Smith as he completed 18-of-28 passes for 110 yards and rushed for 22 yards on three carries.
Ross Felder was the top receiver for BA with six catches for 49 yards. Fisher Warren caught four passes for 34 yards.
Defensively, Warren powered the Cougars with eight tackles. Carter Culbertson contributed seven stops. Connor Griffin had six tackles and recovered a fumble. Price King also recovered a fumble.
Last year, Parklane dominated BA 34-6
My prediction: The Pioneers will celebrate homecoming with a 42-6 win.
