Franklin County (3-3), coached by Anthony Hart, is looking to put an end to its two-game losing streak after falling to the Tylertown Chiefs 13-6 last week.
This week, the Bulldogs continue their road tour as they travel to Wilkinson County to battle the Wildcats in their Region 7-3A opener.
The Wildcats (3-3), coached by Kenneth Brown, skinned the Ferriday Trojans 45-26 last week in Louisiana.
Desmond Hunter directed the Wildcats’ passing attack last week by completing 28-of-43 passes for 402 yards. Phillip Thompson rushed for 101 yards on 11 carries. Anthony Juan was the top receiver with 12 catches for 169 yards. Travion Jones was the second leading receiver with eight catches for 128 yards.
Defensively, Juntavious Cage and Steve Brengettsy directed the Wildcats with 12 tackles each.
FC’s top offensive player last week against Tylertown was DeMartre Collins with 40 yards rushing on 10 carries. He also led all receivers with four catches for 29 yards. Jacob McDaniel completed 7-of-24 passing for 59 yards, with two interceptions and one touchdown.
Defensively, Dominique White led Franklin County with 13 tackles. Wyatt Johnson contributed 12 stops. Cameron Young and Chris O’Quinn provided 11 tackles each. Marquavis Dunn had 10 tackles.
Last year, Franklin County defeated Wilkinson County 40-22 in Meadville.
My prediction: The Bulldogs will climb back into the win column with a 42-32 victory.
