Franklin County (3-2), coached by Anthony Hart, battled the Lawrence County Cougars at Louie Mullins Memorial Stadium last week and suffered a tough 30-15 loss at home.

This week, the road gets tougher for the Bulldogs as they east on Hwy. 98 to visit Tylertown to take on the undefeated Chiefs.

The Chiefs (4-0), coached by Osborne Holmes, skinned the South Pike Eagles 30-0 last week in Tylertown.

Ojavious Magee directed the Chiefs’ rushing attack last week with 17 rushes for 133 yards. Aaron Jefferson completed 4-of-7 passes for 118 yards. Da’bryan Magee was the top receiver with one catch for 62 yards.

Defensively, Ron Brister Jr. directed the Chiefs with eight tackles. Josh Lacroix and Devion Brister contributed seven tackles each.

FC’s top offensive player last week was sophomore quarterback Jacob McDaniel completing 5-of-14 passes for 82 yards. De’Martre Collins completed one pass for 39 yards and rushed for 22 yards on eight carries. Antonio Christmas was the top receiver with three catches for 65 yards. Tony Wells caught two passes for 43 yards.

Defensively, Chris O’Quinn powered the Bulldogs with 15 tackles. La’Darius Norman contributed 13 tackles. Marquavis Dunn provided 11 stops. Wyatt Johnson, Gregory Queen and Dominique White had eight tackles each. Cameron Young had seven stops, one sack and a fumble recovery.

My prediction: In another tough defensive battle, the Chiefs will squeeze out a 28-24 victory.
