Funeral services for Ronald Dale Jones are Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Jones Family Funeral Home with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery. Rev. Talmage Smith will officiate the services. Jones Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. and continue Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Mr. Jones, 79, of Summit, died peacefully at home with his close family and friends singing Amazing Grace led by his caregiver Annabelle Dickerson on Friday, Sept. 19, 2015. He was born on Feb. 29, 1936, in Summit to David Dean Jones and Corine Williams Jones.

He attended Summit High School and Southwest Mississippi Junior College where he played baseball. He was indicted into the SMCC Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He entered into the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. He worked at Kellwood Manufacturing for many years and later retired from Offshore Oilfield where he worked as an electrician. After retirement he enjoyed rabbit hunting and fishing in the Mississippi River. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Ethel Jones; his wife, Mildred T. Jones; and his half sister, Linda Kay Martin.

Survivors include his son, John David Jones and wife, Raqual, of Summit; two daughters, Veronica “Ronnie Lynn” Jones and husband, Norman, of McCall Creek and Cindy Darleen Felder and husband, Charles, of Pearl; three brothers, Dean Jones Jr. and wife, Doris, of Summit, Billy Ray Jones and wife, Dianna, of Summit and Harry “Teddy” Williams and wife, Gloria, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; a special cousin, Annabelle Dickerson of Bogue Chitto; seven grandchildren, Micki Jo Deer and husband, Kevin, Kimberly Hutson and husband, Mark, Drew Haraughty, Kristin Felder and fiancé, Matthew Pratt, William David Jones and wife, Karis, Joan – Quilla Jones and Jaycie Felder; and six great-grandchildren, Payton and Hannah Deer, Bryce and Bryan Hutson, Dakota Haraughty and Natallie Haraughty.
