ACCS hosts BA Cougars for homecoming

Brookhaven Academy (0-4), under the direction of second-year coach Blake Purvis, could not contain its new division rivals, the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave, falling 41-6 last week at D’Evereaux Stadium.
This week, the Cougars will invade Natchez again to play the ACCS Rebels in another district contest.
The Rebels (5-0) blanked the Wilkinson County Christian Rams 34-0 last week in Natchez.
BA’s top offensive performer last week against Cathedral was senior quarterback William King, who finished with 9-of-10 completions for 67 passing yards.
Five receivers caught a pass for the Cougars – seniors Zach Carr, Ross Felder, Carter Culbertson and King and junior Fisher Warren. Culbertson led the Cougars rushers with 28 yards on seven attempts.
Defensively, senior Roger Rushing led the Cougars with five tackles apiece. Connor Griffin and Culbertson provided four tackles each. Grant James and Connor Smith rounded out the Cougars’ top tacklers with 3.5 tackles apiece.
Last year, ACCS defeated Brookhaven Academy 46-21 at R. M. “Red” Stuard Field.
My prediction: The Rebels will secure a homecoming victory over BA 49-12.
