West Lincoln finishes strong in MC run

CLINTON – The West Lincoln Bears and Lady Bears finished strong in the Mississippi College Cross Country meet that featured 43 teams and almost 1,200 runners Saturday.
For the Lady Bears, Lillianne Rushing finished with a time of 20:37 in the 4K run. Jana Case came in at 21:14, Georganna Allen at 21:32, Lexis Leggett at 22:06 and Megan Gerald at 22:30.
For the Bears, Jason Watts led West Lincoln finishing in 14th overall with a time of 18:29 in the 4K run. Jordan Montgomery came in behind Watts with a time of 21:45. Todd Calcote finished at 22:21, Jonathan Mathis at 22:52 and Keith Burns at 25:39.
In junior high action, the Lady Bears competed in a two-mile run. Tess Holley led the Lady Bears with a time of 17:39. Ashley Tabor finished with a time of 17:58, Sara Wilson at 18:32, Gracee Warren at 19:21 and Anna Johnson at 21:33.
In the boys’ 2K run, Tiler Castillo was the top runner for West Lincoln with a 16th place finish with a time of 13:32. Dakota Spring finished behind Castillo with a time of 15:35, Spencer Maxwell at 16:29, Daniel Hollis at 18:47 and Ashtin Castillo at 18:50.
West Lincoln resumes cross-country action today at the Hansel King Sports Complex in Brookhaven, starting at 4 p.m.
