Maxine Minter (left) discusses her paintings on display at the library during the exhibition’s reception hosted by the Brookhaven Regional Arts Guild recently. Maxine Minter said that she painted when she was younger, but set it aside as she focused on her family or job. Minter said it was only after her husband, James W. Minter, died in 2004 that she picked up her paintbrushes again. Minter painted this portrait of her late husband, pictured here when he was 25 years old.
