M-Braves, Smokies suspended in fourth

Kodak, Tenn -The Mississippi Braves trailed the Tennessee Smokies 1-0 on Thursday night in the bottom of the fourth inning when the skies opened, setting off an hour-long rain delay before the game was called.

The game will be resumed in the bottom of the fourth with the Smokies batting at 5:05 p.m. on Friday. Dan Vogelbach and Taylor Davis stand at first and second after back-to-back walks to start the inning, and Billy McKinney has a 3-0 count.

The Smokies scored off starter Greg Ross in the first inning. Jacob Hannemann hit a leadoff double, taking third on an errant pickoff attempt. Vogelbach grounded out to short for an RBI and a 1-0 lead.

Right-hander Ryne Harper (0-1, 3.68) will start the resumption for the Braves, while right-hander Andres Santiago (1-2, 3.82) takes the ball for the Smokies. In the second game-a seven-inning contest-the Braves send right-hander Victor Mateo (3-3, 2.32) against Smokies right-hander Frank Batista (6-2, 1.60).
