Ross, who averaged a 73.09 for the year, also earned NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament All-Tournament, Golf Coaches Association of America NJCAA Division II All-Freshman, NJCAA Division II Ping All-America Honorable Mention and NJCAA Division II All-Central Region Team honors.

“We are happy to have Jacob join our program and look forward to him helping us win championships,” said Homan. “He’s great kid who will provide depth and leadership to our team.”

Ross prepped at Brookhaven Academy, where he ranked No. 1 in the state, won four Mississippi AA State titles and twice claimed Mississippi Junior Golfer Of The Year accolades.

In 2012, Ross originally signed with the Ole Miss Rebels to play golf, but after one season he returned home to play golf for his dad/coach Ronnie Ross at Co-Lin Community College.

Ross said he is pursuing a career in civil engineering but his major goal is to play the PGA Tour.

His father is his main coach. He also works with another instructor, V.J. Trolior, at Old Waverly, the home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs Golf Team.

Jacob is very excited to joining Mississippi State’s golf team,” said Ronnie Ross. “As of me and the rest of the family are very excited as well for him. I have really enjoyed having Jacob here for one season at Co-Lin. He is a great, hard working young man and I am looking forward to see him play for Mississippi State for the next three years.”

Ross joins Severin Soller of Germany and Rupert Kaminski of South Africa in the Bulldogs’ latest signing class.
