STARKVILLE (AP) – First-year Mississippi State coach Ben Howland continues to rebuild his roster with the signing of 6-foot-10 forward Aric Holman.
Holman, who is from Owensboro, Kentucky, is a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com. He joins an impressive incoming class that includes Malik Newman, one of the nation’s top-rated guards.
Howland said Thursday on Twitter that Holman is a “great shooter and passer” and a “great addition.”
Mississippi State also announced that guard Maurice Dunlap is no longer on the team and plans to transfer. The 6-foot-2 Dunlap played in seven games last season while averaging 2.9 points.
Mississippi State is trying to bounce back from three straight losing seasons. Coach Rick Ray was fired in March and Howland, who took UCLA to three straight Final Fours, was quickly hired.
