Almost 100 students will graduate from two county schools tonight.

Loyd Star Attendance Center will host its graduation Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Loyd Star Gymnasium. There are 57 students in Loyd Star’s 2015 graduating class.

Nineteen of Loyd Star’s senior class will graduate with high honors. Eleven seniors are graduating with the Mississippi Scholars designation.

Ruby McCullough is valedictorian for Loyd Star’s 2015 graduating class. Daughter of Brian and Stacie McCullough, McCullough maintained a 4.0 GPA. She cheered for Loyd Star for four years finishing her senior year as cheer captain. McCullough also played basketball and was part of Loyd Star’s academic team and Beta Club. McCullough plans to attend Copiah-Lincoln Community College for her prerequisites with her sights on pre-med education upon transferring.

Raigan Smith is the daughter of Rob and Dana Smith and is the salutatorian for Loyd Star’s 2015 graduating class. Smith was involved in the Beta Club, band, basketball and slow-pitch softball. Smith plans to attend Co-Lin for two years before transferring to the University of Southern Mississippi to study nursing.

“This has been an exceptionally challenging year for the class of 2015. Losing a very beloved classmate changed the entire dynamic of the class,” Loyd Star Principal Robin Case said. “However, this is an incredible group of young people. They have weathered the storm and have come out stronger on the other side. The graduating class of 2015 is a group of great potential. We expect them to be very successful as they continue on this journey of their lives.”

Also hosting graduation Thursday is West Lincoln Attendance Center, with activities set for 8 p.m. at Jack Case Gymnasium. West Lincoln’s graduating class includes 42 students.

Nineteen of West Lincoln’s senior class will graduate with high honors, having earned a cumulative academic average between 90 and 94. Eight will graduate with highest honors with 95 or above cumulative academic average for all classes. The class of 2015 includes 20 Mississippi Scholars.

James Alex Neal, son of Kim and Jessie Neal, is valedictorian for the 2015 graduating class. He is graduating with a 4.0 GPA. While at West Lincoln, Neal played baseball for the school. Neal

plans to attend Mississippi State University to study engineering.

Micah Ashton Redd is salutatorian for West Lincoln’s 2015 graduating class. Daughter of Andrew and Camille Redd, Redd is graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She played both fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball for West Lincoln. Redd plans to attend Holmes Community College.

“It’s an outstanding group of young people. We’ve really enjoyed having them on campus,” West Lincoln President Jason Case said. “They’re a very bright group of young

people. West Lincoln faculty and staff will miss them.”
