Funeral services for Ximena Hawkins Wiggins are Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. from the St. James M. B. Church, Brookhaven with burial in Perry Family Cemetery in Canton. The Rev. Larry Jointer will be officiating. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday 12 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The BHS Class of 2009 will host a memorial for Ximena, in remembrance of her love of children’s books and reading on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in the parking lot of St. James M. B. Church. The class is asking that you donate new/gently used books to be presented to the Lincoln County Public Library in her memory.

Mrs. Wiggins, 24, of Jackson died April 30, 2015 in Brookhaven. She was born Nov. 19, 1990, in Brookhaven to Dora Walker Johnson and Johnathan Hawkins Sr.

She was a 2009 honor graduate of Brookhaven High School. At Brookhaven High she was a member of the National Honor Society, a Mississippi Scholar, a member of the Latin club, Brookhaven High School band and a member of the forensics and debate team. She went on to graduate from Jackson State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2013 where she was a member of Tiger Pride and The W. E. B. Du Bois Honors College. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She was a member of the St. James M. B. Church.

Survivors are her parents; her husband, Benjamin Wiggins Jr., of Jackson; her son, Wyatt O. Wiggins of Jackson; her sisters, Angela Jones of Brookhaven, Jasmine Hawkins of Louisiana, Alisha Walker of Brookhaven, Jourdyn Hawkins of Texas, Jayde Hawkins of Texas and Chloe Hawkins of Texas; brothers, Johnathan Hawkins Jr. of Texas and Dalvin Walker of Texas; her mother-and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Wiggins Sr. of Canton; paternal grandparents, Johnny Hawkins, and Stella Smith (James Monroe); and a host of other relatives and friends.
