A Brookhaven man pleaded guilty to selling a controlled substance in Circuit Court Monday.

During a status hearing, Marquez Robinson, 24, of Earl Trail, changed his plea to guilty for one of his three charges: the sale of 30 units of Hydrocodone, which carries a sentence of five to 30 years.

Robinson was sentenced to 10 years, with six suspended by Circuit Court Judge Michael Taylor Tuesday morning. He will have post-release supervision for five years and must pay at $2,000 fine.

An order not to prosecute was sought for his charge of unlawful sale of a counterfeit substance during the hearing. The order means the state will no longer pursue conviction for the offense.

This order follows a similar one earlier this month when the state chose not to prosecute because Samuel Wade, the victim in Robinson’s aggravated assault charge, was no longer seeking prosecution. Robinson was indicted on June 20, 2014, for his aggravated assault offense.
