North Pike hammers Lady Wildcats

COLUMBIA – The North Pike Lady Jaguars beat the Columbia Lady Wildcats 16-0 in five innings Wednesday at Columbia after a nine-run explosion in the fourth inning.
Lady Jaguars scored in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Madison Bigner, an RBI single by Rickera Martin, a two-run single by Baylee Bryant, a two-run triple by Janiah Talbert and three errors..
Talbert racked up three RBIs on two hits for Lady Jaguars.
Lady Jaguars’ Katelin O’Brien kept Columbia off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out four.
Molly Monk was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed 15 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
Lady Jaguars never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Madison Bigner.
Lady Jaguars increased its lead with four runs in the second. A scored Linley Smith to start the scoring in the inning.
Janiah Talbert led the Lady Jags’ offense at the plate with a double and a single. Sarah Brock, Madison Bigner, Jordan Fitzgerald, Bridgette Talbert, Rickera Martin, Linley Smith and Baylee Bryant hit safely.
The Lady Jaguars (5-5, 4-0) will the Purvis Lady Tornadoes, Thursday April 9. Junior varsity action is set the start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
